Christmas of '03
The beginning of November always brings a sense of excitement for me. I
can’t help it! The holidays are such fun. The food, the shopping, the
Christmas music…I love all if it. And it is a good thing I do cause this
year my responsibilities at work and at home have doubled. Ron (WCKB’s GM)
knows how much I love Christmas so he has asked me to be in charge of
decorating the station for Christmas. Door knobs, chairs, and microphones—be
warned…everything that sits long enough will be Christmasfied by the time I
get done with it!
Personally, this Christmas will be a very special one, too. It will be the
first with my husband, Darren. He has a wonderful family that I now belong
to, and his—I mean our—niece, Olivia, is coming to spend a Saturday with us
before Christmas, and I think I am more excited about it than she is. She
loves anything that is pink, so buying for her is really easy. And then
there is Daniel. He’s the older brother to Olivia, and is our protector when
we all get together. He even has a light saber! He makes sure that the ‘bad
guy’ (Darren) doesn’t kidnap the queen (me) and the princess (Olivia). Last
but not least is the little baby, Adrienne. She is such a sweet tempered
baby, and to think that she has been in pain just hurts. A couple of months
ago, she would have seizure-like symptoms, and her left side would come
together in what looked to be like a stroke. Shook us to the very core it
did. She recently underwent a series of tests, and thankfully, it wasn’t a
neurological disorder. It seemed to be an adverse reaction to reflux. Thank
God for doctors who can pinpoint problems that affect our loved-ones. In
this case, the problem is easily solved with medication. Words can not
describe how thankful we are. But something tells me you know exactly how I
feel.
Yep, this holiday season will be full of activities at work and at home, but
I will wear a smile and enjoy every minute of it till the end of the year,
for I know what the spirit of the season is all about. |
